Welcome to the first public appearance of the website
for the American African Nuru Foundation. Since this is the first
version of this website, you can assume that everything here is still
under construction. Normally
that fact would not be sufficient to require a message like this one
since most websites are constantly undergoing updates and additions.
However, as we approach the sixth anniversary of the attacks on
Sept. 11, 2001 you
might be surprised to learn that in many ways, the existence
of this foundation is a result of the events of 9/11 and the reaction
to those events by a remarkable man from Kenya, Kimeli Naiyomah and
his home village. Once we get legal permission to include copyrighted
material
on this website, we will post the story here, but until we resolve
those issues, feel free to use the following link or perform your own
search
for the story of the events following 9/11:
Kenyan village response
to 9/11
In the long run, if the true legacy of 9/11 is actions like the ones
made by the residents of a small village in Kenya or the creation of
a charitable
foundation such as this one, then the sheer cruelty and evil that people
can commit against each other is repudiated by the basic decency and
humanity that I believe is the true nature of people, (despite the large
number
of counter examples found in the daily news).
Over the next few weeks and months we will post more detailed information
about the people of AANF, the projects AANF is undertaking, the progress
of those projects, and ways that you can get involved if you wish to.
The AANF would like to give a special thank you to the folks at SoulofAmerica.com for
giving us additional exposure via a link on their website.
Feel free to send comments, suggestions, etc. to the
webmaster.
